Embarq intros Broadband-enabled Telephone

EMBARQ introduces the next-generation home phone to its customers. EMBARQ™ eGo™ combines the reliability of a home phone with the functionality of the Internet.

EMBARQ is the first communications company to offer its customers a cordless home phone with visual voicemail, news and information, personal phone books and local phone directories. Now customers can get information they need, when they need it, without having to turn on their computer and log on to the Internet.

Visual voicemail – Scroll through your voicemail messages to play, save or delete them in whatever order you choose, thus giving you the ability to listen to your most important messages first.

News, weather and sports information at your fingertips – Now you don't have to turn on the TV, boot up your computer or search the newspaper to find the final score of the big game, read highlights of the day's news or know whether you need to wear your winter coat or carry your umbrella.
 

Local business listing searches by category – Search, dial and save local numbers without having to know the name of the place you want to call. For example, if you are craving pizza, but you cannot remember the name of the restaurant you want, just type "pizza" into the keyword search and click on the listing you want to call. You can also search for businesses in other parts of the country, such as "florists" or "hotels," by typing in the keyword and the Zip code of the city in which you are searching.
 

Phone address book – Easily store frequently dialed numbers so you never again have to search for one. Numbers are saved online and in the handset. Online storage makes numbers accessible from all EMBARQ™ eGo™ phone extensions.
 

EMBARQ™ eGo™ home phone handset is now available online for $129.95 and in EMBARQ™ Stores at a $30 discount or $99.95. In the near future, the phone will be available to purchase through EMBARQ™ call centers.

In order to take advantage of all of the features of EMBARQ™ eGo™, customers need to have a qualifying EMBARQ™ home phone calling plan, EMBARQ™ Voicemail and high-speed Internet access.
