Motorola Launches Family of VDSL2 Gateways
Motorola introduced the Motorola Netopia®
7000 Series VDSL2 Gateways. The 7000 Series gateways are designed to deliver
high-speed data and IPTV services over ultra-broadband networks that are easy
for service providers to install and manage. Through the use of advanced VDSL2
technology and Motorola’s industry-proven embedded routing software, these new
gateways are ready for the extreme demands of next-generation service offerings
such as high definition TV (HDTV).
The Motorola Netopia 7000 VDSL2 Gateways are available in three different
configurations in order to address the worldwide demand for VDSL2 technology. By
offering solutions based on Broadcom® with PhyR™, Conexant® and Ikanos
Communications® chipsets, Motorola can support the wide variety of network
configurations that are being deployed by the world’s largest service providers.
“The new 7000 Series gateways are designed to meet consumers’ insatiable
appetite for more bandwidth,” said Alan Lefkof, corporate vice president,
Broadband Solutions Group, Motorola, Inc. “Our advanced routing software and
quality of service (QoS) techniques, in addition to our end-to-end management
capabilities, provide the service assurance our customers need to deploy
advanced services such as IPTV and optimize their networks with confidence.”
Motorola’s VDSL2 gateway platforms are based on its robust, proven software
platform optimized for IPTV delivery. The 7000 Series gateways have advanced QoS,
VPN and IGMP implementations that have been used successfully by service
providers worldwide.
Ideal for fiber-to-the-neighborhood (FTTN) applications, the 7000 Series
gateways support high-bandwidth VDSL2 over a single copper pair in the “first
mile” from the subscriber’s home to the fiber node. The four-port wired and
wireless gateways deliver advanced services with better speed and performance.
All 7000 Series gateways offer comprehensive remote manageability, including
centralized remote provisioning, troubleshooting, and management via TR-069
compliant ACS systems, including Motorola’s NBBS device management platform.
Motorola NBBS also enables the ability to manage devices, such as IPTV set-tops,
connected to the gateway through support for the DSL Forum TR-069, TR-111 and
TR-135 specifications.
The Motorola Netopia 7000 Series Gateways are also equipped with 3-D Reach®
Extreme Wi-Fi® technology, which provides superior wireless range, performance,
and coverage for 802.11 b/g wireless applications. The gateways include Wi-Fi
Protected Setup™ pairing technology. Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) enables typical
users, who possess little understanding of traditional Wi-Fi configuration and
security settings, to automatically configure new wireless networks, add new
devices, and enable security.
The Motorola Netopia 7000 Series VDSL2 Gateways offer yet another example of
Motorola’s world-class experience in enabling our customers to meet exploding
bandwidth demands by helping them enhance and optimize their networks. This
technology brings personalized, secure and integrated content to consumers,
bringing them choice, convenience and control through media mobility.
