FTTH Represents 42% of total Broadband in Japan at end of 1Q08
For the quarter ending March 31, 2008, total broadband subscribers in Japan reached 28.8 million, representing a 1.6 percent growth rate, the lowest levels to date. Total DSL subscribers now account for 44 percent of total subscribers, while FTTH has reached 42 percent and cable is 14 percent. Overall net additions continue to slow as penetration of broadband is close to 55 percent of total households. Total FTTH Subscribers have now reached 12.15 million, DSL was 12.7 million, while cable modem was 3.9 million at the end of 1Q08.
