FTTH Represents 40% of total Broadband in Japan at end of 2007
For the quarter ending December 31, 2007, total broadband subscribers in Japan reached 28.303 million, representing a 2 percent growth rate, the lowest levels to date. Total DSL subscribers now account for 46 percent of total subscribers, while FTTH has reached 40 percent and cable is 14 percent. Overall net additions continue to slow as penetration of broadband is close to 56 percent of total households. Total FTTH Subscribers have now reached 11.3 million, DSL was 13.1 million, while cable modem was 3.8 million at the end of 2007.
