Mediacom to Launch 20Mbps/2Mbps Service
Mediacom Communications announced it plans
to increase the maximum download speed of its Mediacom Online Max internet
service to 20 megabytes per second (Mbps) and the maximum upload speed to 2
Mbps, at no additional charge to customers. These upgrades will take effect by
the end of June.
"This enhancement to our suite of high-speed Internet products reinforces
Mediacom as the leading broadband provider in our markets since we offer
Mediacom Online MAX throughout essentially our entire footprint in 23 states,
even in some rural areas where we may serve only a few customers," said John
Pascarelli, Mediacom's Executive Vice President of Operations. "Unlike most of
our competitors, who limit marketing their elite Internet products to select
cities and suburban communities, Mediacom is investing for the benefit of all of
our customers so that none of them is left behind in the information age."
To accommodate differing consumer needs and wallets, Mediacom offers four
choices of Internet access with monthly prices ranging from $19.95 to $59.95.
The maximum download speeds for each level of service vary from the Intro
service of 3 Mbps, to the flagship service of 8 Mbps, to the VIP service of 10
Mbps available to triple play customers, and to the newly upgraded MAX service
of 20 Mbps.
Mediacom Online Max is often preferred by users who frequently download movies,
stream video, and exchange high-resolution photos. In addition, this service
comes with free online content optimized for super high-speed downloads,
including access to a library of more than 100 premium games, children's
activities in Clever Island, the Disney Connection, Fox Sports, ESPN 360 and the
full Encyclopedia Britannica.
